Twenty experts from Arab states belonging to the Gulf Cooperation Council took part in a trade capacity building training course that ended today in the Kingdom of Bahrain.
The three-day course was organized by the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) under the patronage of the Ministry of Industry, Commerce and Tourism of Bahrain and in close cooperation with the Gulf Standards Organization (GSO).
The event was organized within the framework of the Aid for Trade Initiative for Arab States (AfTIAS) and was hosted by the UNIDO Investment and Technology Promotion Office (ITPO) in Bahrain.
The training course provided participants with the technical knowledge to understand the diverse issues pertaining to the essence of trade-related capacities in promoting inclusive and sustainable industrial development. It also focused on developing skills related to results-based management, project design and monitoring. At the end of the course, participants presented their project proposals in the area of quality infrastructure development at regional and national levels.
“This training course allowed participants to better understand and articulate trade-related needs and to tap available resources and funding at the international level,” said Bernardo Calzadilla-Sarmiento, Director of UNIDO’s Department of Trade, Investment and Innovation.
