Training on "Advocacy Tools for Environmental Issues

UNDP Jordan, through The RIO Conventions project, in cooperation with the Ministry of Environment organized a two days specialized training on " Advocacy Tools & Techniques for Environmental Issues".
This training, which comes as part of many communication activities & funded by GEF, targeted a group of media people who works closely with UNDP and the moenv.
The training focused on major topics such as Overview about advocacy and the role of Public Media in advocacy , Analyzing sources of power for public media and advocacy. Also, the participants discussed the state of advocacy in the country, identifying the strengths and weaknesses of initiatives that have been undertaken and challenges for the future.
This activity aimed at building capacities, raising awareness and understanding of Rio conventions’ contributions to sustainable development, and thus improve the stakeholders’ attitudes on global environmental conservation. In addition to providing the basic knowledge for targeted media professionals in Jordan on the environmental advocacy
tactics they can employ to tailor and implement an advocacy campaign on environmental
issues.
