ULSAN, Republic of Korea, 28 June 2016 – The United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) and the National Research Council of Science and Technology (NST) of the Republic of Korea will work together to establish and expand scientific and technological research cooperation in the field of science and technology.

A memorandum of understanding on this new partnership was signed today by LI Yong, the Director General of UNIDO, and Lee Sangchun, the Chairman of NST during the fourth Green Industry Conference taking place in Ulsan.

The three-day event is organized together with the Ulsan Metropolitan City, the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy, with the support of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Korea.

The partnership between UNIDO and NST will help in the promotion and sharing of best practices of the scientific and technological research and identify cooperation possibilities within this area. It will also complement and expand mutual knowledge bases to increase the contribution to industrial development in developing countries and countries with economies in transition.

NST is a government-funded scientific organization, which provides policy support for national research projects and drives the development of knowledge industries by supporting, fostering, and systematically managing science and technology activities of government-funded research institutions.
