The United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) held a Creativity Show at the United Nations Vienna International Centre as part of its week-long celebration of its 50th anniversary.
More than 300 participants including representatives of UNIDO Member States, CEOs of private sector companies, heads of international organizations and other guests invited by UNIDO’s Director General, joined this event.
This event was organized in the format of a reception and centred on a presentation of two garment and fashion collections from Armenia and Jordan, with accessories from Lebanon, Egypt and Algeria. Interior design corners exhibited furniture, ceramic arts, copperware and other creative lines developed within UNIDO’s projects, including items produced in the framework of a UNIDO project in Tajikistan.
The event was implemented in partnership the sponsor of the reception, the Intel Foundation, and the donors of the presented UNIDO projects, including the Russian Federation, Italy and the European Union.
This event demonstrated the achievements and results of UNIDO’s work in the field of upgrading cultural and creative industries, which aims to foster innovation in traditional industries with the objective of adding value to cultural heritage and traditional know-how, while modernizing the sector, providing access to new markets and creating jobs. The Creativity Show also addressed the topics that are at the core of the development agenda, including financing for development, climate change, migration and resilience, and the future of industry.
