Preparations for Holding the Agricultural Investment Forum at the End of 2017

The Minster of Investment and International Cooperation Dr. Sahar Nasr
met with the Representative of the Food and Agriculture Organization
(FAO) in Egypt Dr. Hussein Gadain at MIIC premises.
Both sides discussed preparations for the convention of the new
agricultural investment forum to be held by FAO in collaboration with
MIIC at the end of 2017. Both officials also discussed the means of
increasing agricultural investments in Egypt and boosting cooperation
between FAO and Egypt.
The Minister called on Dr. Gadin to focus on supporting broader
impact-projects so as to ensure addressing lagging regions, investing in
the agricultural sector, and benefiting from competitive advantages and
available investment opportunities nationwide. Holding meetings with
various investors in agricultural areas with a view to providing
facilitations to them, along with giving further attention to
agricultural MSMEs due to their role in providing youth with job
opportunities and opening up new horizons for them, thereby increasing
economic growth rates, were also touched on during the meeting.
On his part, Dr. Gadin expressed FAO's keenness on supporting
agricultural investments in Egypt and small farmers, which would
contribute to improving standards of living through increasing the
competitiveness of their production, thus promote their economic status.
