Abu-Ghazaleh Presides over the Annual Meeting of the Arab International Society for Management Technology

AMMAN - The Arab International Society for Management Technology held its annual meetings under the presidency of HE Dr. Talal Abu-Ghazaleh, President of the Society, with the attendance and participation of its members.

Dr. Abu-Ghazaleh announced a number of decisions that would further develop the Society and expand its educational and training services, stressing the need to intensify efforts through global partnerships, to provide internationally accredited programs and certificates.

He recommended modifying the Society’s message to one focusing on encouraging the creation of innovators and inventors in line with the transformation of societies into creative, intelligent and knowledge-based societies. He also recommended modifying the mission of the Society in line with the change of the message, based primarily on supporting innovation activities in the field of Information and Communication Technology as a way to build wealth.

As a result of the Society’s role in supporting creativity and the objective of Talal Abu-Ghazaleh Applied Information Technology College to graduate innovators, a twinning cooperation agreement will be signed between the Society and the College for cooperation between the two sides in the following fields:

1 – Joining academics, professors and experts in the fields of technology from the College to the membership of the Society, to support its work and its community mission.

2- Benefiting from the business incubator expected to be established in the College to hold training courses and professional programs for the Society.

3 - The presence of a representative of the Society in the College to implement the terms of the agreement.

4 - Utilizing the College curricula and using them in preparing specialized training courses materials for the Society in the field of information technology, to be accredited by the College and issuing certificates carrying the logos of the two sides.

An agreement was reached to form three specialized committees in the Society, according to the main specialties of the college. The chairmanship of each joint committee will be shared between a representative of Talal Abu-Ghazaleh Organization (TAG-Org) or the Arab International Society for Management Technology and an external head of specialization and expertise in this field.

Mrs. Majd Farhat, the Director of the Society, reviewed the 2017 Society work report, which clarifies the activities carried out by the Society that have come as continuation of the previous achievements which aim at building capacities related to the fields of information technology and knowledge management in all its specialties and fields, to place the Society on top of the associations and international professional organizations, and to achieve all the objectives for which it was established.

During the meeting, the second editions of the Smartphone applications of the Society were launched, with the aim of providing the services of the Society, especially the educational ones, to all users at any time and place, in addition to marketing the services of the Society. The website was also launched in its new format as well as the announcement of the automated electronic system for follow-up procedures of participants in the training programs, members and trainers.

The financial statements and the report of the Administrative Board of the Society on its work ended on 31/12/2017 were also discussed and approved; the final financial statements and the general estimated budget for 2018 were discussed and approved, in addition to the election of an auditor for 2018.

Participants in the meeting discussed the Society's activities and achievements during 2017 in which it flourished, including holding specialized training programs as well as a number of different events strengthening cooperation frameworks with various institutions in order to meet the local, regional and international requirements in the fields of quality and knowledge management.

The winner of the contest “Towards a Smart Society”, which was launched last year for members of the Arab International Society for Management Technology, was announced.

Founded in 1989 as a non-profit organization in Buffalo, New York, USA, the Arab International Society for Management Technology was officially registered in Amman in 1990 under the name of the Arab Society for Management. The importance of its establishment has come as a result of the realization by heads of administrative positions and businessmen on the importance and impact of their roles in serving business communities in their countries. In 2015, the name of the Society was changed to “the Arab International Society for Management Technology” in order to keep pace with the world latest technological developments in different sectors and create knowledge management.
