During his speech at ‘Arabic Language in Their Eyes’ seminar Abu-Ghazaleh: We are honored to serve our Arabic language, vigorously draw roadmap of our future

AMMAN – HE Dr. Talal Abu-Ghazaleh, founder and chairman of Talal Abu-Ghazaleh Global (TAG.Global) affirmed the point that the best learning methods is ‘self-study’, underlining TAG.Global pride in serving the Arabic language and  drawing a roadmap to our future. 

In his keynote speech at the ‘Arabic Language in Their Eyes’ global seminar, Dr. Abu-Ghazaleh said “languages witness deterioration and decline, and it’s not unusual to see that happening our language. However, Arab countries have to make good marketing of their economy by marketing their languages, and this is a national duty. Language is a soft weapon.”

Dr. Abu-Ghazaleh also pointed out that TAG.Global launched a set of initiatives with the aim of preserving and promoting the Arabic language including the Talal Abu-Ghazaleh Electronic Arabic Encyclopedia (TAGEPEDIA), which offers accurate, revised and validated content. The number of its all fields’ entries until today has reached one million.

Furthermore, Dr. Abu-Ghazaleh announced that the curriculum of the Arabic Fluency Program has been completed and launched. 

“We have accomplished a very distinctive publication for teaching the Arabic language in response to the growing need to learn Arabic by native and non-native speakers, in addition to the Arabic Fluency Test that assesses proficiency and fluency of candidates,” Dr. Abu-Ghazaleh said, referring to TAG.Global’s readiness to conduct such exams at a global level. 

Meanwhile, Dr. Abu-Ghazaleh warned against the continuous use of Arabizi, the Romanized alphabets for informal Arabic dialects.

“We have to fight Arabizi on the Web since our children in the future will increasingly depend on the Web as a source of knowledge and such knowledge should be linguistically accurate and error-free.”

In her speech, Dr. Basma Al Salim welcomed Dr. Abu-Ghazaleh, pointing out that learning Arabic language is steadily increasing in the globalization era. 

During the seminar, Prof. Oqlah Al Smadi tackled the reasons and methods of teaching and learning Arabic, while Prof. Samir Istetieh, talked about creating a better future for learning Arabic language. 

Various activities were organized during the gathering including a speech by non-native speakers, poems, workshops, lectures and analytical presentations.
